We need to learn to heal our bodies instead of just fixing.

What can YOU do in 5 minutes?

  • Make your bed?
  • Eat a sandwich?
  • Brush your teeth?

What if I told you that in 5 minutes you can

  • Improve your sleep quality
  • Balance electrons and influence your brain
  • Develop and increase your senses
  • Improve your overall posture

How can this be possible? In just 5 minutes how can you make steps to changing your lifestyle? The answer is easy. Earthing. Earthing is the connection that we make with the earth by walking barefooted. By walking barefooted we are connecting with the magnetic field in the earth.

Our body is conductive to the earth and the earth is conductive to our body. The earth is full of negative ions and we need these ions because negative ions increase your sense of well-being and mental clarity by removing the debilitating effects of excessive positive ions in your environment. They are often described as a natural anti-depressant.

There was a Japanese study that showed how ions are linked to human health. This study showed how when different weather systems with a higher percentage of positive ions increased, those who had arthritis and other pains got worse.

In more recent years doctors in Japan have found that the effect of having high levels of positive ions in the immediate environment can lead to a whole host of ailments.

Positive Ions- Researchers believe that positive ions can cause damage to the body. Common household and workplace objects like cell phones and computers and other electronic devices, emit high doses of positive ions, these then can impair brain function and suppress the immune system causing symptoms such as; anxiety, breathing difficulty, fatigue, headaches, irritability, lack of energy, poor concentration and mental performance, nausea, and vertigo.

This simple process of walking barefoot does more than just fix our bodies it heals. It heals our bodies from the constant bombarding of positive ions, that we place on ourselves.

Not only does the action of walking barefoot heal our body and minds, but also the concept of solitude in nature has the ability to recharge and reset our minds.

Taking the time away from these positive ions that are so common in our lives will benefit your health in many ways.

We are in an age where when we are sick, have sore muscles, in pain, or any kind of ailment we look to fix the problem. We want the quickest and easiest way to make ourselves better. We pop a few Advil and we go on our way. This constant cycle of trying to fix ourselves will become routine and will be too often and damaging to our health. When did it become a hassle to heal our bodies instead of just fixing it?

Healing our bodies shouldn’t be a box to check off on a to-do list, but a way that we live our lives. Regularly connecting to the earth’s natural energy is powerful and vital for all people.

The earth is literally at our fingertips or at least our toes. We can’t take for granted this free and vital energy source. It is how we use it that will make all the difference.

Let’s take a moment. When was the last time you weren’t thinking about school or work or everything you have to get done in the next week? This probably was relatively soon, when you were getting a few hours of sleep the night before. This isn’t healthy. Your brain shouldn’t be getting a break only when you go to sleep. You should be making time to restart and recharge your brain. Doing this will heal, instead of just fix your stressful mind.

We should be finding time frequently disconnected from our phones, computers, and busy lifestyles and be connected to the earth.

Solitude in nature allows us to recharge and reset our minds. Removing distractions and clearing your mind improves concentration and productivity. We need to give our brain a rest. By being away from others we are able to clear our minds, focus, and think more clearly.

Being alone in nature allows us to heal instead of just fix.

We are grounding our energy and getting rid of that dizzy, out of control, too much going on feeling, and we are bringing it back with a sense of peace.

Henry David Thoreau said, “I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright.”

There is a strong body of research confirming that direct contact with nature increases mental health and psychological and spiritual development.

When we make this direct connection with the earth we see an improvement in our lifestyle.

When our bodies contain more negative ions, we are able to relax and sleep better. When we have negative ions flowing through our bodies we are able to improve our sleep quality.

When walking barefoot we create an ionic balance within our cells. Our bodies want to be regulated and by walking barefoot we are able to gain the balance of positive and negative ions in our bodies.

When we walk with shoes on pressure points and nerve endings on the bottom of our feet go unstimulated. Whenever we go barefoot we are opening these pressure points and nerve endings to stimulation. This develops and increases our senses and opens our nervous system to become more intact.

When we walk barefoot we start standing lighter. Standing lighter allows us to stand taller, this means that our slouch goes away, our shoulders stop rolling forward, we are more alert and in relation to we improve our posture.

I’ll say it plainly: life is rough. We all live very busy stress inducing schedules. It may seem impossible to have a good nights rest, a clear mind, and a balanced system. Finding time can be hard to change your whole lifestyle, but something as easy as walking barefoot can heal our bodies instead of just fixing for the time.

How do we do this? How do we find time?

Schedule it in, plan ahead, tell yourself at this time on this day, I’m changing my life. Take a moment to step away from your social life, school work, and positive ion induced environment and step outside.

Bob Ross said, “Talk to the tree, make friends with it… There is nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.”

Being out in nature with just you and the earth will recharge your body and spirit and connecting to the earth will improve your sleep quality, balance electrons and influence the brain, develop and increase your senses, improve your overall posture, and many other things.

Today I challenge you to not only go outside, but to go outside and take your shoes off. We must make a change in our health, we must heal and not just fix. Thank you.
